Viewing Twilio SMS Status Messages
The Sureshot SMS application will log and update the status of messages sent to a contact. These statuses can be used to monitor the delivery rate of a campaign and for further reporting. This document will provide all possible statuses that may be recorded by Sureshot.
Outbound Message Status
As messages are sent via the application they will first be received by Twilio who will determine the correct Carrier (AT&T, Sprint, Verizion, Etc...) to deliver the SMS or MMS message to the desired contact. The following outbound statues are related to Twilio's portion of this data transfer.
|Accepted||(Messaging Services only) Twilio has received your request to create the message from a Messaging Service. Twilio is determining the optimal 'From' number from your service.|
|Queued||Twilio has received your request to create the message. All new messages sent from a specific Twilio phone number are created with a status of queued.|
|Sent||Twilio has received a confirmation from our Super Network partner advising they have accepted the message.|
Finalized Delivery Status
After a message has been successfully sent from Twilio to the Carrier A new set of statuses will be returned regarding the delivery status from the Carrier to the contact's handset
|Sent||Twilio did not receive updated delivery information for your message, or it was sent from the deprecated /SMS/Message REST API Resource, which does not support message delivery information updates.|
|Delivered||Twilio has received confirmation of message delivery from the upstream carrier, (and, where available, the destination handset).|
|Undelivered||Twilio has received a delivery receipt indicating that the message was not delivered. This can happen for a number of reasons including carrier content filtering, availability of the destination handset, etc.|
|Failed||The message could not be sent. This can happen for various reasons including queue overflows, account suspensions and media errors (in the case of MMS). Twilio does not charge you for failed messages.|
Sureshot SMS users have the ability to create auto-responses. Auto-Responses have a unique success Status when logged by Sureshot.
|Succesful||The Auto-Response has been successfully generated, delivered via Twilio and the Upstream carrier to the final destination.|
